Hello, I have a question. I want to apply felt plaster on a green drywall board. I have already noticed when tiling and previously when applying a liquid membrane in the lower area that the gray liquid membrane turns brown because of the green board. If I apply white felt plaster, how will the color show through? I would like the final color to be beige/yellow. Are there primers in yellow that are applied under the plaster?

Then I will ask the building technician and plasterer I hired to visit the site for professional advice.

So, after contacting the company Schäfer, a polite gentleman informed me over the phone that the components felt plaster 600 and primer are no longer suitable. Gypsum and cement should not be combined; instead, a quartz-based primer should be used before painting, followed by the application of 5mm (0.2 inches) of fiber-reinforced Pro Kalk Reno.

Strange reasoning. Surely the representative does not intend to claim that his Pro Kalk Reno contains no cement at all...

Furthermore, the drywall gypsum board is practically decoupled from the material by the green colored paper; the gypsum does not come into contact with the plaster anywhere.

The technical datasheet for the drywall primer also specifies Sperrgrund LF and not just quartz primer – the gentleman should also study the section on "plaster substrate" and not stop reading after the heading.

But as I have already stated, in my opinion the described risks remain. I wish you that your thin-layer plaster will still look good in a year, despite the significant vapor exposure.

They are not consistent in the datasheet either; in one place, quartz primer is sufficient, while further down, a sealing primer should be used. I will use sealing primer, which according to the application guidelines for ProKalkReno should be sufficient. Therefore, I consider two quartz coats unnecessary.

I believe the primer for drywall (gypsum board) is meant here. The technical datasheet also directly addresses the issue of discoloration.

If you have the plasterer apply the plaster, you should also leave the surface preparation to them. Because if their work peels off next year, it will be your fault, as the substrate was prepared incorrectly.

Hello, so the plasterer was on site, but he can only do surface finishing; he can’t apply plaster. Lime plaster is an unfamiliar term to him, and I won’t let anyone push something on me. I’d rather wait until a plasterer who knows how to do it has time and, above all, can provide proper advice.
