The circuit board of our Grünbeck water softener burned out, which allowed water to flow unnoticed through the softener for about a month. We detected an excessive water consumption of 135m³ (4,761 cubic feet). This problem seems to have been known to the company for several years. Nevertheless, the system was installed at our property about six months ago. Has anyone had similar experiences, and were you able to reach a resolution with Grünbeck?

Where did the 135m³ (4,765 ft³) go? Into the drain?
Wouldn't you notice something like that beforehand?
And what does one thing have to do with the other? A circuit board breaking can happen, sure, and there is a warranty.
But if you don’t notice water leaking into the drain after a month... well, I’d say that’s your own fault.

On the other hand, Grünbeck offers a good app that allows you to monitor the system properly.

Hello,
you seem quite clueless (or are pretending to be). Why did you even respond?
The water does not flow into the drain but is directed straight into the sewage system through a connection, so you don’t notice it at first.
The connection between the faulty circuit board and the flow has also been confirmed by the field technician from Grünbeck (and by the way, the company has known about this for several years).
Nevertheless, no recall was initiated by the company. The newer models all have a different circuit board.
Furthermore, the mentioned app does not work!
To prevent any assumptions… it was activated by a field technician, but loses Wi-Fi connection within a few hours (and no, the router is only 2 meters (6.5 feet) away and is properly configured).

P.S. Are you connected to the company Grünbeck in any way?

Why should Grünbeck issue a recall just because a control board can fail occasionally?
I’m not an expert either, but I still check the equipment regularly.

It’s definitely possible that revised control boards are produced for fault cases.

Miele washing machines also have issues with the TwinDos system. Miele replaces the machines, but that doesn’t lead to a recall, which would be a bit excessive.

It’s the same with the control board—there’s no water leakage.

If the device is only 2 meters (6.5 feet) away from the router, why use Wi-Fi instead of a LAN cable?
I haven’t had any problems with the app. However, I switched it to LAN and installed a patch cable.
