Hello everyone,
One of the last trades to be completed was the bathroom, including the walk-in shower. It consists of a Saxoboard (with heating), on which tiles were laid, unfortunately with a bit too much spacing.
Now we have the problem that the grout color is very light, but in some areas of the walk-in shower, the grout stays dark immediately after application/drying - which looks quite unattractive. The grout in the bathroom has already been repaired twice and is now scheduled for a third renewal. One might think there is moisture under the tiles and the grout is not drying properly. However, during the second repair, I carefully checked for moisture between the tiles with a cotton swab and found no sign of water. The grout remains dark after the repair, although no shower use has yet taken place. The 20cm (8 inches) space between the heating board and the screed (with underfloor heating), where no heating is present, is always involved (see photo height mobile phone shadow), but the same issue occurs in the shower area above. We also tried running the heating for 24 hours, but it made no difference.
What could be the cause? For the third repair, I have now suggested using new grout, but I am not very confident it will help.
Best regards,
hyaden
