ᐅ Garage attached directly to a single-family house. Is the foundation sufficient?

Hello,
We are now close to starting construction on the house. Now the question is whether I should have the general contractor, as he suggests, create a foundation along the house wall. For a 9m (30 feet) garage, he wants to install three 30cm (12 inches) diameter foundation piles (which would cost around 1000€).
Wouldn't it be sufficient to have the garage company create a strip foundation instead?

Bauexperte1 Jul 2011 11:44Hello,
Usually, the roofing of masonry garages is done with a two-layer bitumen membrane, with the top layer covered with gravel. The roof edge should be finished with a continuous parapet capping made of zinc sheet metal. This is typically done by the carpenter.
@Bauexperte: For the 7200 (3x9 meters (10x30 feet), electric sectional door, garden door + strip foundation) you mentioned, I received offers from carpenters ranging between 9,000 and 10,000. I also heard similar prices at K+!
If I get one for 7200, it’s immediately a prefabricated garage, same price but more space (thin walls)![/QUOTE]
I explicitly wrote "+" in words plus sectional door and remote control.
Whether you can really save money with the variant proposed by the shell builder, I cannot answer, although I honestly doubt he can produce the masonry for less than 3,000 euros (the concrete slab alone would cost about 2,200 euros). And then it goes on: the carpenter needs to be paid, as does the plasterer, and who exactly installs the door?
Kind regards

perlenmann1 Jul 2011 12:35I’ll handle the gate; the plasterer only works on the front sides where there’s a door in each.
No idea what such a roof would cost.
But the foundation slab doesn’t have to be €80/m² (about $87/yd²), right? It won’t be as thick as for a house, I assume. In any case, the contractor will do it all at once with the rest of the slab, so there’s no need for a separate truck to come.
Oh, and I completely missed the "+ PLUS" part—then we’re back to 9–10.

perlenmann6 Jul 2011 13:50Here I am again.
The offer amounts to 5700€. So, write it off.
But they can make the strip foundation for the prefabricated garage. However, I can't reach my garage specialist.
Can you simply specify how the foundation needs to be made? How many strips, how arranged, how thick/deep? How thick is the garage floor slab?
