Hello and HELP!!!

We are currently very anxious and worried.
How long does a concrete slab typically need to cure before construction can start on it (timber frame prefab house)?

And is "frost" really such a big problem?
If yes (I can imagine due to the water content), does this apply to a prolonged frost period,
or also to, for example, just a few hours during the night or early morning?

We have to hope that we can finish our slab somehow this year,
otherwise our house installation appointment in March/April will be seriously at risk.

We are supposed to get a "Thermo concrete slab KfW-55" (without heating).

Best regards

Don’t worry, you don’t have to wait four weeks before the house is assembled. Neighbors waited only a few days, while construction started the very next day in our case (solid construction). For nearly 30 houses built so far in our development, the start of construction ranged from one day up to about 1.5 weeks after the foundation slab was completed.

There’s no frost expected yet anyway.

Hello Milambar,

We are building a prefabricated solid house, and the construction company started erecting the basement walls (white tank construction) after only 3 days.

Hello,

It depends on the weather conditions. I wouldn’t "risk it" in bad weather... If the weather is good and you have a quality mortar that sets quickly, there is basically no obstacle...

Our concrete slab was poured in early November 2012, and three weeks later, the prefabricated house was installed on it.
This is possible if the weather is not too extreme.
Connecting the house services becomes more difficult when the ground is frozen... that simply won’t work.

Those building in winter need to expect delays.

When building a house, we don’t care how much snow or ice is outside.
It’s only about the concrete slab.

According to other homeowners, the company still pours slabs in December.
So everything is fine with that.
