Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago, I shared a floor plan for our planned single-family house.

After some further consideration, here is an updated sketch.

I would kindly ask you to share your opinions before we go back to the architect.

Sketch no longer available

Thank you very much for your information and feedback!

Best regards

You must not draw the walls as lines – they have a thickness of about 12 to 24cm (5 to 9.5 inches). You absolutely need to take this into account, especially for the exterior walls!
The front elevation looks unbalanced with the windows differing on each side.
The bedroom layout doesn’t work like this.

Please revise the design so we can provide advice 🙂

Ok, yes please don’t take the window positioning on the front too seriously.
The one in the middle definitely doesn’t work and will be corrected!

What doesn’t work about the bedroom?

Our floor plan is almost the same, except that on the ground floor the living room and kitchen are swapped, and we don’t have a bay window.

The walk-in closet on the upper floor doesn’t work. Unfortunately, it’s designed in a way that’s much too complicated. Our walk-in closet is where your exit to the balcony is, and the bedroom is to the right of it (with an additional access from the hallway), but that wouldn’t work for you because of the balcony or would be impractical. Maybe your planner has a different idea?

By the way, you have made a measurement error. The top and bottom are different sizes...

No, he got that right, but still nothing fits if you actually leave some space for the walls.
The upper floor doesn’t work because you need more than a 70cm (28 inches) passage—that’s like an airlock nobody wants to go through in your place...
It’s not worth wasting energy posting here.

And if you say: "Don’t take the windows too seriously," what else should we maybe not take seriously???
