Hello everyone,

I’m wondering what would be a reasonable time to arrange the utility connections. When is the earliest this can realistically be done? Right after the shell construction?

The reason I’m asking is that I want to avoid having to chase the contractors unnecessarily for a long time. Ideally, I would arrange a date where it wouldn’t be a problem if the company or their subcontractor only shows up a few weeks later.

We already had scheduling issues with the utility provider during the dismantling of the old house connection. The subcontractor simply did not show up, which ultimately delayed the demolition by 2 weeks and then also postponed the crane setup/start of the shell construction by another 2 weeks. I would therefore prefer the connection to be installed and unused up to the utility room, rather than moving in and having no internet for the first few weeks because the provider doesn’t cooperate.

Looking forward to your advice.

Hello!
We received our utility connections last week.
The requirement from our supplier was that the interior plastering had to be completed and the scaffolding removed.

Our supplier completed everything very smoothly within one day, and no other trade had to wait.

As soon as the lockable door is installed, the utility providers will come. Keep in mind scaffolding and accessibility, as they often prefer not to use ladders...

As far as I know, the house must be lockable, meaning it must have a front door and windows installed. Also, the daily average temperature must not be below 5°C (41°F), otherwise they won’t start the excavation work.

So, we had empty conduits installed right away by the civil engineering company that was already there for the house foundation.

A few weeks ago, we received a notification from the telecom provider that the connection will be made in October. The utility company also confirmed that it can be locked. However, here the utility company installs the telecom cables as well... I’m not sure if someone from the telecom provider will come in October to do the final activation or something similar.

Removing the scaffolding was an issue for us. The next appointment was then two weeks later. Fortunately, there were no delays because of this.
