We are renovating our thatched-roof house by adding an extension, which involves extending the roof. The original part of the house has a yellow drainage pipe all around it, but I’m not entirely confident in it. I often wonder how much it needs to rain before you can actually hear water flowing out of the pipe’s end piece. So my question is: does anyone know a better solution? Or is it safe to continue using the yellow pipe without worry?

Hello

Now it’s easier to see. Which way does the slope of the drainage go? Towards the new extension or away from it? Normally, you should install a drainage system around the new foundation slab. But not just the drainage pipe, also the drainage layer.

The slope goes toward the extension. So it’s best to use the yellow drainage pipe again in the gravel bed.
Thank you very much, Steven

Hello floor showcase

It's not quite that simple. The end of the pipe must discharge into a permeable drainage layer. Otherwise, in case of heavy rain, you could end up with a puddle that floods your basement.

Hello Steven, since there is a trench running around the house, we will direct the end section there. Thank you very much for your answers...
