Hello everyone,
let's see if there is a general answer to my question.
We are considering positioning our double garage perpendicular to the street. Is there a general rule for how much maneuvering space is needed? The length of the driveway would be especially important here.
Thanks in advance,
Volker

Yvonne, it’s not about attaching a garage directly to the house—that’s what we have too. The issue is simply about turning that 90°, which means you have to maneuver in front of the front door every time. Good luck with small children around. Or when visitors park directly in front of the door and you have to weave your way inside.Your garage can also be blocked by bicycles. A child could be standing behind you—jump or hop.
However, I must correct something: our setup is different, but we don’t maneuver either. We drive out the same way you do (backwards/forwards), just that the steering wheel is turned more.
Anyone who can't park properly will end up driving in a straight line into the garage just as easily as when it’s at 90 degrees.
