ᐅ Doorbell notification on the smartphone

Hello,

is there a way to forward the doorbell to a smartphone? Or even have it ring only on the phone? I don’t want a camera, intercom, or anything like that. I just want my phone to be alerted when someone rings the doorbell.

There are a few situations where I think this would be very useful. I work from home a lot, and my office will be located in the attic. I also listen to a lot of music there. If someone rings the door downstairs, I probably won’t hear it.

Another situation is when the children are sleeping, and you want to turn off the acoustic doorbell sound but still be notified via phone when someone rings. The classic scenario: the kids are put to bed, and mom and dad have ordered some food...

Are there simple solutions without using cameras or similar equipment?

Thanks for the advice

Does anyone use this "Ring" video doorbell? I’ve looked into it, and it integrates with Alexa. An existing doorbell button can easily be replaced with it. It uses the existing doorbell wiring for power. You get notifications on your smartphone via an app. It doesn’t sound too bad and the price seems quite reasonable.

I was planning on it. I bought the Pro version for 179€ (about $190) almost nine months ago but haven’t installed it yet. The amount of plastic somehow puts me off. I don’t want to drill holes in the plaster just for what’s basically a toy doorbell. That said, since last week’s skill update, the Alexa integration works very well—especially with an Echo Show 2 in the kitchen.

I really like the build quality of the DoorBird d2101v, and since we have a LAN cable in the wall box, it’s a good fit. The problem is I really don’t want to break up so much plaster to install it flush in the wall.

Can you also install that thing surface-mounted?
