Soon, we will be painting the exterior façade and are currently researching different paint systems.
We were recommended a silicone resin-based exterior paint. On one side of our house (the weather-exposed side), we have some minor moisture issues (the paint was peeling in some areas). I cleaned these spots with a scraper and repaired them where necessary using a renovation plaster.

Now my question:
The old paint is likely a standard dispersion paint. Does it make sense to use a silicone resin paint? For the newly plastered areas, this choice makes sense to me because it is breathable, but on the surfaces with the old paint, this effect probably doesn’t apply since the old paint already seals everything. In that case, the expensive silicone resin paint would seem to lose its purpose in these areas...
Or am I missing something?
Thanks for your support and have a great weekend,
