Hello everyone,
I recently bought a Kallax shelving unit from Ikea and have been using the compartments extensively to store various items, mainly books and folders. Unfortunately, the inserts I placed inside keep sliding back and forth, which is not only annoying but also affects the stability of the shelf organization.
Therefore, I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with non-slip liners for Kallax compartments? It’s important to me that the liner adheres well but does not damage the inserts or boxes. Additionally, it should be durable and easy to replace.
Perhaps someone knows of specific products, materials, or DIY solutions that work well here. I look forward to your tips and recommendations!

Hello everyone,
I completely understand how frustrating it is when items keep slipping on the shelves. I experienced the same problem with my Kallax unit and searched for a long time for the perfect solution.
What worked best for me was a non-slip neoprene liner, typically used for drawers. Although it is not self-adhesive, it sticks well enough to keep everything in place. At the same time, I was able to remove the liners anytime for cleaning without leaving any residue.
Sometimes there is a concern that too much grip might make it difficult to insert or remove the boxes, but with this liner, it was just right—a balance between good grip and easy removal. Maybe you could give it a try?

Maybe Ikea simply doesn’t want to improve this in order to sell accessories?
I believe the design problem should be tackled on a higher level: instead of just buying non-slip mats, a small structural change to the compartments would be better – for example, shallow grooves or a slightly textured surface.
Non-slip mats only provide a short-term solution and cause new problems like dust accumulation or material wear. What do you think about having a fundamental discussion on this?
