Hello,

we are planning to install a pool in the garden during the summer months from May to September. Since we want to finish the garden next year, I am already planning the appropriate area. It will be a 3m x 1m (10 ft x 3 ft) pool holding about 6600 liters (1745 gallons). That means approximately 6.6 tonnes (7.3 tons) on the 3m (10 ft) diameter. To make it look more cozy, I would like to build a wooden deck around it. Of course, gravel would be laid underneath, and possibly some concrete as well. Would wooden decking boards hold this weight? Would you prepare the ground differently, and do you have any experience with this?

Thank you very much!

You want to place a wooden deck under the pool? To make the pool area cozier?
A pool always needs a flat, even surface to stand on. Even the cheapest above-ground pool.
Your idea doesn’t make sense and won’t work. Build a nice deck around the pool instead. That way, it will be more comfortable for users.

Concrete slab, leveling compound, and thick fleece.
Around the outside, you can then build a wooden deck.
And sell the filter and pump from the ready-made kits (Steinbach, Bestway, etc.) right away.
Buy something properly sized, let the pump run long enough, change enough water if you disinfect with multitabs (problem with CYA), and don’t even consider filter balls...

As for the surroundings, I’ve already done some research and bought an Aquaplus 4 with a 300 sand filter. Plus a decent skimmer. I still need something for cleaning the bottom and the chemicals. That should cover it for now.
Regarding the ground surface, the pool is only going to be there for a few months. How about a patio with wood-look tiles? They should be able to handle the weight.

If you properly glue the panels onto a concrete foundation, yes. However, you will need a thicker fleece because everything tends to press through.
