I know this might seem like a basic topic, but we really aren’t skilled DIYers.
When it came to bathroom fixtures, the general contractor (GC) didn’t have the options we had in mind. So, we agreed to install the washbasins for the bathroom and toilet ourselves.
We found some online that we like. The washbasins come fully assembled, which is already a relief.
They include the basins themselves. The basins have holes drilled (according to European standard dimensions, it says), and that’s it.
And now we’re already overwhelmed again. What else do we need to buy?
The GC will handle the connections. Quote from the contract: the pipes such as drain pipes, hot and cold water, and 2 angle valves remain part of the contract.
You definitely need the drain fitting for the basin where the water flows out. Also, we probably need the pipes from the hole in the basin to the wall.
And we need a faucet.
Is there anything else we might need? Seals or gaskets? Oh, and we want to have it installed, not do it ourselves—unless installation is very simple.
Does the faucet come with the necessary connections to the angle valves?

pagoni202029 Jun 2020 18:28If you want to design something different, you can also get MDF boards of 22mm (7/8 inch) thickness or more at timber merchants. It’s easy to sand the edges by hand and then paint them as you wish (or have them painted). There are also red and black MDF boards dyed throughout, as well as the mentioned plywood panels; all are additional options for such boards in bathrooms, kitchens, etc.

Sent you a private message.Unfortunately, I didn’t receive anything. But strangely, I can no longer send private messages either because I supposedly don’t have enough posts, even though I have posted before. This forum is quite strange at times. Thanks for the pictures and tips!
It looks really great. One from Ikea is also on my favorites list. And there’s another one I really like, but it’s quite expensive.
But I’m getting more and more frustrated with the washbasin situation. I know exactly what I want, and I’m confident I can buy the parts myself, but I don’t trust myself to mount something like that on the wall. I keep posting on MyHammer looking for someone to screw the two washbasins to the wall and connect them, but I can’t find anyone.
Even our plumber from the construction team says he can’t do it because of warranty rights and liability. I said I would waive that, but he said no matter what I sign, they would still be liable.
Now I don’t know what to do. I’m already considering returning the washbasin I’ve bought and just taking a basic one from the general contractor, just so we have something mounted on the wall. :/

pagoni202029 Jun 2020 18:58Take a look on classifieds websites or contact a building maintenance service. You’ll definitely find someone who can install that thing; it’s not rocket science for a tradesperson. “Sanitary specialist on site warranty???” Oh dear... either you gave them the wrong number or they’re just not very competent, sorry.
Don’t get discouraged; you’ll find someone. Having to look at an ugly sink for your whole life is just not an option!!
And what if you simply place it on a board with nice metal legs instead of fixing it to the wall?

And what if you simply place it on a board with nice metal legs instead of mounting it on the wall? It’s too low to stand on. The favorite is relatively small, only 50cm (20 inches) high. It would look nicer on the wall, too.
I didn’t give the plumber any figure; I asked what they would charge if I hired them to do it.
I’ve heard before that most companies refuse to work with customer-supplied materials. I can still try eBay Kleinanzeigen if all else fails. But there, I don’t have any reviews from previous clients. Whether I trust just “anyone” to drill into my beautiful bathroom tiles more than I trust myself, I’m not sure. :/
