Good evening,
three days ago we had four truckloads of clay soil removed from our garden.
Now we need to refill the garden with almost 50 tons of topsoil.
Using a wheelbarrow for this is quite hard work... Can I use a small loader for this?
I’m just worried that the loader will compact the soil too much, causing standing water in the garden again!
Or will it be okay if I loosen the compacted soil afterwards with a garden tiller?

Best regards,
Hari

Who removed it? Normally, you would just lay the new floor directly on top.

You are exactly right: the wheel loader compacts the soil. Make sure to use a mini excavator and a dumper. The mini excavator loads the soil into the dumper, which transports it on site without much compaction. Both can be rented inexpensively.

What about three friends and two wheelbarrows? Sure, it involves work, but that's just how it is. Besides, this method causes the least compaction...

A little compaction can’t hurt; using a dumper is the best option for that. A wheel loader compacts too much. Then leave it for a heavy rain, use a rototiller to break up the surface once, level it again if necessary, and then sow the lawn.

I did it with a mini excavator, which can be used to loosen the areas where you have driven over. Then finish grading with a rake.
