Hello,

Is there a tiler here who can roughly estimate the cost of installing tiles on a U-shaped staircase (double winding without an intermediate landing) using the thick-bed method?
I am asking about the labor cost only. Would the labor cost be higher if a stair nosing profile is installed at the front edge, and if so, by how much?

My U-shaped staircase is tiled. We have a lot of noise, but it's caused by the children.

We also have a tiled staircase with stainless steel edging strips. Yes, the grout lines are not all perfectly aligned, but I actually find that quite attractive. It fits perfectly with our flooring, which is made from the same tiles in the basement hallway and the ground floor hallway.

Unfortunately, I don’t remember what we paid, but according to our tiler, “custom-cut natural stone” and tiles with leveling compound are roughly the same price. (With natural stone, the material costs more but the labor time is shorter; with tiles, the tiles are cheaper but the labor takes longer because the stairs first had to be leveled to the correct height with leveling compound before tiling.)
