fredclever-128 Sep 2014 13:28Hello everyone
Our kitchen designer has presented the first proposal for the kitchen. There are 2 points that are a bit unusual:
1.
Since we wanted a very bright kitchen, we now have 2 windows each 2.20 m (7 ft 3 in). The cooktop is located under one of these windows. The distance from the cooktop to the window is 36 cm (14 in). At the spot where the cooktop is, the window is fixed and screwed shut. From your point of view, is there any reason against this? Of course, it’s understood that the window will need to be cleaned more often ;-)
2.
Because of the window, the designer suggested a ceiling extractor fan. Now my question: has anyone had experience with these types of fans? Do they effectively remove cooking odors? Does the grease spread throughout the house?
I appreciate any tips, advice, or constructive suggestions.
Best regards

Hello fredclever,
I think it’s fine to have that window section screwed in there. I also find the distance of 36 cm (14 inches) acceptable.
We also have a ceiling extractor fan from WESCO and are very satisfied with it. It removes the dirty air from the cooking area while cooking. The fresh air provides a pleasant atmosphere. The grease is effectively captured by the grease filter. This way, I don’t have grease inside the house.

Thank you for your feedback. Since ceiling-mounted range hoods are not very common, it’s not easy to find information about them.
What is the distance between your cooktop and the hood? Which model are you using? How noisy is it? Is a ceiling-mounted range hood louder than a “regular” hood?
I would appreciate any answers.

Hi,
I’m not Jonas, but I still want to share my thoughts.
We have the ceiling extractor EVRC 3, and it operates quietly. I don’t have a comparison to a range hood, but I think there isn’t much difference.
The width is 60 cm (24 inches) and the depth is 30 cm (12 inches). This ceiling extractor is installed directly below our suspended ceiling. It also contains two grease filters that do a good job of capturing grease.
Overall, we are very satisfied.
