Hello,

unfortunately, we have decided to build a house without a basement because, among other reasons, the groundwater starts at around 2.20m (7 feet 3 inches).

In the planning of the utility room, only a heat pump combination unit (heat pump + water storage) was considered. However, we would prefer to use a heat pump, water storage tank, and buffer tank separately. The problem is that the utility room is too small for this setup.

Since we still have a large garden (building plot), we had the idea to build a small basement there to solve the issue with the technical equipment and also to gain some additional storage space.

We have been looking for months for a company that can build a basement of about 25m² (270 square feet) for us. Do you have any ideas or experience on how to find a company that could build such a basement for us?

Most companies approached so far have declined due to the small size.

Kind regards
Stefan Borghoff

Why don’t you build a shed, an extension, or a garage...
How large is the utility room?

Hello, take a look at Glatthaar. They offer a mini basement. Maybe that’s something suitable.

Hi Junkiehoernchen
That works as agreed even without a link

Alternatively, you could ask the bunker manufacturers. They offer small rooms that can be used as utility rooms.

Hello Stefan

Is the building already constructed or still in the planning stage?

If there is enough space on the site, why go through the effort of building a basement? Presumably, it is not easily feasible or planned to have it directly adjacent to the building. This would also mean long distances for loading and unloading the buffer.

Why do you want to retrofit a buffer at all? Restricted operating times? Too short running times?
