Hello,

I am looking for a cistern pump. We have a 5000-liter (1320-gallon) cistern from Graf, which collects all the rainwater from the roof and driveway.

Later, an irrigation system for the garden beds will be connected to the pump.
I found a pump on the Graf website (Inox Integra), but it costs a hefty 550–700 €. How much worse are the 200 € pumps from Hornbach by comparison?

Best regards

I am not a pump specialist, but for long-term durability, I would also lean towards a higher-quality stainless steel pump, which usually has an impeller made of stainless steel as well. I would try to avoid cast materials and plastic. Is the pump in question a wastewater pump?

Yes, the pump is from the same manufacturer as the cistern itself and is also marketed as a complete package together.
I will test it then.

Take a look at the Grundfos Unilift KP150. It is technically excellent and priced at around 250€ (about 270 USD). I used its bigger counterpart, the AP12.50, continuously for two weeks to lower groundwater levels. I was very impressed.

Do you want to use drip irrigation only for the garden beds, or also to water the lawn?
The pump curve shows the differences.
A submersible well pump is actually the optimal choice for a cistern and irrigation. There are affordable options from Tipp, including a controller.

550-750 EUR seems quite high to me as well. Even brands like Gardena or Makita are usually around 300 EUR.
