Hello,
the title pretty much says it all. What are your thoughts or experiences on this?
I believe that wallpaper is better for children’s rooms since it is easier to replace damaged or scribbled wallpaper.
With plaster, this is not as easy to fix. However, my partner prefers everything to be consistent, so she wants plaster in the children’s rooms as well. Visually, I definitely find plaster more appealing, but the question remains about its practical suitability for everyday use.

In my opinion, wallpaper is better for a child’s room because damaged or scribbled wallpaper can be replaced fairly easily.
With plaster, that’s not really possible. My partner, however, prefers everything to be consistent, so plaster in the children’s rooms as well. I personally find plaster more visually appealing, but the question remains about everyday practicality.
What do you think? We also only used plaster. We touch up the paint from time to time in certain areas of the house where the child and cat leave their marks. If you don’t use custom-mixed paint, you can often buy the same color again and it’s not noticeable.

You might think you can just replace the wallpaper easily. In reality, with smooth fleece wallpaper, the seams will be visible, so it’s usually better to just paint over it, as you would with plaster. Hopefully, you’re not even considering textured wallpaper.
With kids around, the place will stay flawless for only 2 or 3 weeks anyway.
Once they’ve crawled on the floor or touched the walls... there will be a black mark. That’s just how it is.

We have planned to renovate the children’s rooms after the school term starts, so hopefully the creative phase will then be limited to the designated materials and the walls will be spared 😀

Ytong20239 Jun 2023 07:18The question of the child’s age remains.
If the child is young, say up to 12 years old, then a nice child-friendly wallpaper is a good choice. What would a child do with a plain white or differently colored, and therefore boring, plastered wall?
There are great children’s wallpapers with race cars for boys or ice princess themes for girls. Or many other motifs.
A child’s room should be furnished to suit the child’s age to some extent.

There are great children's wallpapers featuring racing cars for boys or ice princesses for girls. Or many other themes.
A child's room should be decorated to suit the child at least a little. Are you being narrow-minded?
Have you ever considered that you can create wonderful designs yourself directly on the plaster?
