Finch039Hello,
the title pretty much says it all. What are your thoughts or experiences on this?
I believe that wallpaper is better for children’s rooms since it is easier to replace damaged or scribbled wallpaper.
With plaster, this is not as easy to fix. However, my partner prefers everything to be consistent, so she wants plaster in the children’s rooms as well. Visually, I definitely find plaster more appealing, but the question remains about its practical suitability for everyday use.

What do you think? It doesn’t matter how we see it. You need to come to an agreement. If your argument doesn’t convince your partner, then that’s the way it is. You have to handle it like any other disagreement.W
WilderSueden7 Jun 2023 22:43You can also paint over plaster. That should solve most problems. Otherwise, the saying goes, "happy wife, happy life" 😉
If you want to keep things consistent, there are options. For example, there is a type of textured paint (sometimes called "elephant skin") that you could apply over it (great for all kinds of creative expressions). Alternatively, you could install some kind of wall panel where the colored pencils are supposed to be.
I don’t have a final solution for this yet. Right now, colored pencils, watercolors, and modeling clay are still activities that require supervision. In the kids’ room, where our little free spirit also spends time alone, everything is basically childproofed. Still, he sometimes manages to make a mess with something. Kids will be kids—I guess that’s unavoidable.
In the new house, our son will definitely be too big for the safety gate. I think I’ll need to get some smelling salts or maybe Tavor (a medication) before that happens. 🤨

I was hoping someone here might share, “we plastered the kids’ rooms, wouldn’t do it again” or “would definitely do it again because…” – or something along those lines. That’s why I’m asking for experiences. That’s what a forum is for, right? ;-)

I believe it’s better to use wallpaper in children’s rooms because damaged or doodled wallpaper can be replaced relatively easily.

What do you think? We have plaster throughout our home. I actually think it’s quicker to repair than replacing individual wallpaper panels. With our kids, it hasn’t really been an issue so far, and I don’t expect it to be. They usually do their drawing in the living room anyway.
