Hello,
could you please help us? We are not entirely sure if the windows for our bathroom, as currently planned, are sufficient.

On the plan, north is at the top and east is to the right.
Width: 4.40 m (14 ft 5 in)
Depth: 2.75 m (9 ft)

Windows: corner element
Window sill height above finished floor level: approx. 1.25 m (4 ft 1 in)
Length of north window: up to the interior edge of the exterior wall approx. 1.30 m (4 ft 3 in)
Length of east window: up to the interior edge of the exterior wall approx. 0.95 m (3 ft 1 in)
Window height: approx. 0.95 m (3 ft 1 in)

The shower is planned in the lower right corner and is open towards the north. Length of the masonry shower wall is approx. 1.60 m (5 ft 3 in) – full height. --> this leaves approx. 1.10 m (3 ft 7 in) clear passage
A large double vanity will be installed along the north wall, starting from the laundry chute on the far left.
The bathtub is placed to the right of the door, in the corner between the shower wall and the south wall.

(still with incorrect window dimensions here)

What do you think? Is it sufficient? Alternatively, we could make the north window about twice as long. But if it’s not necessary, we would prefer it smaller. Also because of the WC below, otherwise the ground-floor guest toilet would have 3 m² (32 ft²) of window. The window below needs to look the same as the one in the upstairs bathroom for visual consistency.

Hm, it is generally said that about 1/8 to 1/10 of the floor area should be window space for a room. You roughly have about 2 square meters (21.5 square feet).
But since it’s a corner, the light only enters diagonally, right? (I’ve never really thought about these corner windows before... until now 😉)
Then half of the incoming light is blocked by the partition wall (bathtub/shower).... 🙁
-> I would be comfortable with a guest bathroom window of 3 square meters (32 square feet)... the windowsill can be nicely used as a shelf 😀
