Hi everyone,
does anyone have a great tip for a bright, decorative kitchen light? I just moved and urgently need enough lighting in my small kitchen!
I’d love to hear about your current favorite items 🙂
Looking forward to your suggestions!

Hello Smörebröd!

I recently converted my entire kitchen to LED lighting.

Under the 120cm (47 inches) Ikea stainless steel countertop, I installed 8 Dioder lights (2 rows of 4). I routed the cables invisibly inside the countertop. The light shines onto the white wall and spreads nicely over the bright work surface in front.

I did something similar with the Faktum wall cabinets. I installed Dioder lights both at the top inside the cabinet and on the underside of the cabinet’s bottom panel, spaced about 15cm (6 inches) apart. Thanks to the glass doors, this already provides very pleasant lighting. The cables are also hidden inside the side panels and the lower trim panel.

By the way, the power supplies that come with the Dioder lights deliver 5 W each. With a bit of soldering skill, you can connect up to 10 Dioder lights to one power supply, which greatly reduces cable clutter.

For the ceiling light, I chose the WoFi Campo 605 with 6 LED lamps at 4 W each (see PDF catalog page 31). The color temperature matches the Dioder lights very well and it uses only a fraction of the energy of my previous two fluorescent tubes (2 x 52 W). Plus, it looks much better.

The 28 Dioder lights alone provide such good basic brightness that I rarely need to use the larger WoFi fixture.

I’m very satisfied with this setup.

Dioder is good, and if you also have a power outlet in the upper part of the wall, you can easily combine it with a remote-controlled socket. I have this in my kitchen. In the evenings, we always turn it on (our Dioder lights are on the upper cabinet), and it provides a nice ambiance for wine or beer.

I have also switched to wireless and grouped my lighting into four zones.
1. Zone: Ambient lighting (evening lighting)
2. Zone: Accent lighting (visitor lighting)
3. Zone: Cooking
4. Zone: General lighting (ceiling, etc.)

Best regards,

Oh, that’s great! Thank you all for your wonderful ideas! I will try them out right away in my small room, and maybe adding the phrase “Let there be light!” will help as well.
