Hello,

We will soon be selecting our bathroom fixtures. We have a certain design line within our budget; if we choose something different, the budgeted price will be credited accordingly.

Since prices in specialty stores tend to be higher, we are considering purchasing the vanity cabinet online and installing it ourselves. However, the sanitary installation—that is, the sinks and all related plumbing—would still be done by a professional.

Are there any issues with the warranty or similar concerns if the vanity cabinet is installed later by ourselves? The plumbing installation should still be covered under warranty, right?

No, that’s absolutely not a problem. You can always make the furniture yourself, we did the same. It saves money, and the quality from a carpenter is much better than the overpriced branded stuff from the bathroom specialists!

If you are actually installing a base cabinet, you screw it to the wall, so it basically has nothing to do with the sink itself.

It’s different with above-counter basins, but in that case, you don’t really have the option to retrofit the countertop, because otherwise the basin would appear to be floating... 😉

We assembled everything ourselves, including the ceramic sink. It was time-consuming, but the savings were huge. I can only recommend buying furniture separately and assembling it yourself.

If you have a good relationship with the plumbing contractors and the base cabinet is already there, they will most likely install it for a bargain.
