Hello!
We bought a 10-year-old house and found these three circles or holes about 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter in the basement. Does anyone know what they might be? The previous owner doesn’t have any information about them.

We would be very grateful for any advice.

Well... the "circles" look like roughly sealed drill holes, in my opinion. Are they in the floor or in the walls?

Could there have possibly been moisture damage there?
It looks like holes for drying equipment.

How is the structure in the basement?
Is there a screed layer?
How are the holes distributed?

I suspect that if there is screed, the holes are for drying after water damage.

Open it up and have a look inside :-)

Yes, it is very likely drying holes, because there was water damage.

Thank you very much for the super fast replies. I have two more questions:
Let’s assume these are drying holes and the damage has been fully repaired (the basement appears dry):
1. Should we have been informed about this when buying the house? Neither previous owner remembers anything about it. Does this affect the value of the house?
2. Can we safely tile the basement floor despite the holes? That was actually our original plan.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
