So everything is now installed:

Hunter irrigation,
Automower,
Sod lawn,
Neat mowing edge.

Unfortunately, I can find very few guidelines on how to automate this properly!

Specifically:
Water first, then mow, or the other way around?
Water every day?
I would let it mow completely every day?

Thanks to you all!

Hello,

Water only when absolutely necessary (rule of thumb: the lawn develops a slight bluish tint). It’s better to water less frequently but more deeply. Twice a week is usually sufficient; during extreme heat, every other day. Definitely not daily! Otherwise, the grass will develop only short, shallow roots and become very vulnerable.

The robotic mower should definitely run daily now. If possible, only during the day to avoid disturbing or harming animals at night.
How long it runs depends on the mower’s capacity and the size of your area. Mine is designed for up to 1000 m² (11,000 sq ft) and has 250 m² (2,700 sq ft) to cut. It currently runs 5 hours daily (total time: mowing plus charging).

Best regards,

Andreas

Currently, I am still in the first two weeks, so I water every other day. After that, I plan to reduce the frequency.

Later on, should I water first and then mow?

I water early in the morning when necessary. This gives the lawn enough moisture for the warm day.
I mow between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. This is during daylight hours and when animals are no longer around.

It is always best to mow when the grass is dry. This results in a cleaner cut and helps the blades last longer. For this reason, many models have a rain sensor that ensures a drying period is waited after rain before mowing resumes.

All right!

How much do you water?
I've come across figures of about 10-15 liters per square meter (2-3 gallons per square yard) from time to time.
With the roughly 12mm/hour (0.47 inches/hour) from the MP rotators, that means each zone would run for one hour per week.
If watering every two days, that would be about 30 minutes per zone.

Or am I misunderstanding something?
