Hello everyone, I am currently facing the challenge of disassembling my IKEA Platsa shelves to reassemble them at a different location. Since the components are quite delicate and I want to avoid damage to the sides and connection points, I am looking for a careful and systematic approach.
Does anyone have experience with taking apart and putting together Platsa shelves without causing splitting, stripping screw holes, or damaging the surface?
I have seen that some professionals recommend loosening screws slowly and evenly, but are there any additional tips for handling the panels, storing the individual parts, or dealing with dowels and fittings?
I would appreciate detailed advice to ensure the move goes smoothly and that I can use the shelves again in as close to new condition as possible.

Hey, I just completely disassembled and reassembled my Platsa shelves – no damage! The key is really patience and working carefully.
I also recommend using a soft surface when placing or moving the panels. This prevents scratches on the surfaces. And if you tighten all the screws at the end with light torque, it protects the connection holes.
You can do it! The second time you assemble them, it will go much faster and more smoothly!

In addition, you can place small pieces of polystyrene or foam under the corners to avoid pressure marks. This way, the shelving unit will stay looking like new for a long time.
