Hello everyone, I am currently looking into the safety of IKEA Platsa furniture, particularly regarding its stability and safety aspects during assembly and use in homes with children or pets. I am specifically interested in which additional safety measures, beyond the original assembly instructions, are recommended to further improve stability and accident prevention. Are there any special products, such as wall fasteners, padding, or reinforcements, that have proven effective? And how do you handle issues like tip-over protection or guarding against pinch points on doors and drawers? I look forward to practical tips and firsthand experiences, especially those that go beyond the obvious.

Regarding additional safety measures for IKEA PLATSA, I recommend the following structured points: - The use of the supplied wall fittings is mandatory to prevent tipping. - For homes with children, it is essential to install child safety locks on doors and drawers, such as magnetic locks or simple latches. - For increased stability, reinforcement elements like extra corner brackets can be used; these significantly improve strength. - To avoid pinch injuries, special edge protectors suitable for door and drawer edges can be applied. On the topic of tip-over protection: Especially with tall units, proper wall anchoring must be ensured, as floor glides alone are often insufficient. The combination of wall fastening plus additional reinforcement has proven to be the safest solution in various tests.

I can fully understand that safety with PLATSA furniture at home is an important issue for you, especially when small children are playing around or pets are curiously exploring everything. It is often not easy to prevent all potential hazards. What has helped me personally is a combination of the original fasteners plus a few practical solutions: - We have placed small rubber pads under the furniture feet to increase grip and reduce slipping. - We use soft-close mechanisms for the drawers and doors, which not only prevent loud slamming but also reduce the risk of finger pinching. - I really like the corner reinforcements from "vinli"; I have also strengthened them myself with small brackets from the hardware store. It is also important for me to have a routine of regularly checking that the furniture is securely fastened – you can quickly tell when something becomes loose. I think it’s good to share practical experiences here, because safety often involves many small details.

I completely agree! Especially with PLATSA, where the modules are flexible, wall anchoring is essential – better twice than just once.

Great tip! I tried felt pads before, but rubber is definitely much safer, especially on smooth floors.

Additionally, I think it’s worth considering some kind of “soft closer” for the doors or drawers, such as damping pads or Teflon strips. It’s like giving the furniture a gentle landing – not only does it prevent pinching, but it also protects the furniture in the long run.

Oh, and for those who enjoy DIY: you can reinforce the back panels by attaching thin MDF boards with smaller screws. This improves stability and reduces those slightly rattling noises that sometimes occur.
