Hello everyone,

I am currently setting up an Ikea BESTÅ sideboard in my living room. Unfortunately, the floor there is not completely level – there is a slight slope or minor unevenness. My question is: how can I level my BESTÅ furniture so that it stands securely and does not wobble?

I have already considered placing felt pads or small wooden shims underneath, but I would like to know if anyone has experience specifically with BESTÅ and can offer more precise tips on how to best align the individual components.

Information about the feet of the unit and any adjustable parts would also be helpful. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Best option: Set up the BESTÅ units individually and adjust the feet. Ikea offers adjustable plastic feet for BESTÅ, which can be easily height-adjusted. If that is not enough, use small wooden shims.

Ikea has adjustable plastic legs for BESTÅ, which you can easily adjust in height.

This is not entirely accurate – although the legs of BESTÅ are height-adjustable, the adjustment range is limited. This may not be sufficient, especially on very uneven floors. I wonder if it might be better to stabilize the furniture by constructing a continuous, solid base underneath or by considering structural measures on the floor itself. It is important to ensure a minimum support area evenly, so that no permanent load is applied to just one corner.

The most important thing: Adjust the feet so that Bestå stands firmly. If necessary, shim with wooden strips or plastic pieces. Some people also use expanding foam, but I recommend using solid materials.

I can fully understand how frustrating it is when furniture wobbles on an uneven floor. I had a similar experience when I assembled my BESTÅ. What helped me was first using a spirit level to carefully check where the furniture was unstable. Then, I placed small rubber pads under the legs to improve stability. It took a little while to get it perfectly steady, but it was worth it – I definitely recommend taking some time and approaching it systematically.

Hey everyone! I had the exact same issue with my BESTÅ on laminate flooring that wasn’t completely even. Just use adjustable feet and also add thin cork pads underneath! They combine stability with floor protection, a great combination 🙂 I’m really happy with the result! Don’t get discouraged, it works perfectly!
