Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble the IKEA Brimnes wardrobe soon and wonder if the assembly is really much easier with two people. My experience with furniture assembly is rather average so far, and I have often heard that certain IKEA models can be put together alone but go much faster and more smoothly with two people. Specifically, I am interested in how manageable the individual parts of the Brimnes wardrobe are when working alone. Are there any sections or steps during assembly where having two people is almost mandatory to avoid damage or to keep the furniture straight? I would greatly appreciate detailed experiences that specifically address possible difficulties when assembling solo versus as a team.

I am familiar with this issue and find your question very relevant.

That is really the key point. When I assembled the Brimnes for the first time by myself, I have to say that some of the panels are quite large and unwieldy, especially when you try to hold them properly and fit them into place. I often struggled to keep them stable while tightening screws. Having a second person would have been very helpful, especially to keep the parts straight against the wall or when connecting them. On the other hand, everything is very well labeled and the instructions are clear, but the physical work, particularly with larger wardrobes, definitely makes more sense when done by two people.

Additionally, I found that the effort and frustration level increase significantly when assembling alone without tools like clamps, which can substitute for a second person. If anyone is just asking briefly, I would actually recommend having at least one helper, as it can save a lot of stress.

I can only agree. Many assembly steps require a certain level of precision where having support really helps. Especially with wide cabinet doors or when securing the back panels, it’s beneficial if one person holds the part in place while the other screws it in.

Safety is another important aspect not to be underestimated: with heavier or bulkier parts, working alone can quickly lead to injury or damage to the furniture. Two people can not only coordinate their strength better but also monitor stability and discuss unclear points together.

I definitely recommend having a second person if you’re inexperienced. More experienced DIYers might see it differently, but in the end, it saves a lot of time and frustration.

Brimnes is definitely easier to assemble with two people. The large side panels are difficult to hold in place alone, especially when screwing them together.

It can be done solo, but it takes considerably more time and effort. One person holds, the other screws. A smooth process.

The assembly of the IKEA Brimnes wardrobe requires coordination and precision during certain steps. This is especially true for aligning large side panels, fitting the back panel, and hanging the doors.

From a technical perspective, the assembly steps where having two people is beneficial include:

- Stabilizing large components while screwing them together
- Maintaining exact positioning during alignment and securing
- Assisting with safe and careful attachment to the wall (wall anchoring)

Experience reports and personal tests show that these measures significantly reduce the risk of material damage or assembly errors. For someone with good DIY skills, some steps can be done alone, but this usually requires more time and increased caution.

Overall, it can be concluded that the Brimnes wardrobe is basically designed for two people to minimize assembly mistakes and stress on the materials.
