Hello everyone, I have the following problem: My Kallax shelving unit has become quite warped and twisted after my recent move. Previously, the unit was completely straight, but now it’s clearly twisted and doesn’t stand stable on the floor.

I suspect this happened because of carrying it and placing it on what was probably an uneven surface. My question is: Is it possible to straighten a warped Kallax shelving unit without it falling apart or sustaining permanent damage? And if so, what exactly should I do? Are there any special techniques or tools that could help?

I would appreciate any advice, as I would like to keep the shelving unit. Thanks in advance!

Hey, that sounds really frustrating! But hey, it’s definitely not the end of the world 🙂 Often, you can straighten the Kallax again. I would recommend carefully disassembling it completely and then realigning it during reassembly. Be sure to check that all connections are tight! Sometimes small wooden shims can help to level out unevenness in the floor. Good luck, you’ll manage it! 🙂

Disassemble the Kallax, check the floor level, then reassemble it. If necessary, level the floor using wedges. Done.

I can easily understand how frustrating a crooked situation like this can be. After my move, my Kallax also wasn’t standing completely straight anymore. I patiently reassembled it, carefully making sure everything was aligned when tightening the screws, and leveled the floor a bit underneath. It took quite some time, but now it looks reasonably decent again. Don’t get discouraged – sometimes it just takes a bit of trial and error.

Kallax uses simple plug-in connections and screws. If it is not square, the connections are usually not properly tightened or the floor is uneven. Check the connections, tighten them, and if necessary, use small shims underneath.

A crooked Kallax shelf often results from twisted connectors or uneven support surfaces.

Recommendation: Completely disassemble, check all connecting fittings, especially plastic dowels and screws. Devices such as mounting brackets can help provide additional stability.

Floor leveling with furniture glides or wedges is recommended if the floor is uneven. It is important that the frame is not under tension to avoid deformation.
