I’m still not sure whether I want to build with or without a basement.

I have looked into the topic of the concrete slab a bit, but I don’t fully understand the offers from different providers. Some tasks need to be done by myself even with the concrete slab (e.g., gravel filter layer or waterproofing), or subcontracted.

Does anyone have information on this?

Then there is the general question of whether to have the concrete slab done by the house manufacturer at all. I heard from one source that it’s better not to, because they are not specialized in this. Another person said it’s definitely better to go through the manufacturer because of the warranty.

How did you handle it and what were the costs? Is it cheaper to have a specialized company do it? Which companies are available?

Regarding the basement, it’s basically the same question. Should I have it done by the house manufacturer, by the company they work with, or by an independent company?

What do you think of the company Glatthaar and which other companies are out there?

So you are looking for a prefab house provider in the lower price range.

Then you should follow the instructions and suggestions of the respective providers, as they themselves know best what they are capable of and what they are not.

First of all, everyone only sells what they market. In the prefab house industry, it’s a section of the house and nothing else; a slab foundation or basement floor cannot be prefabricated according to their production methods.

From the mid-price segment upwards – for example Weberhaus® and comparable providers – slab foundations and basements are offered through subsidiaries or long-term partners. Over the years, these companies have learned that if they don’t supervise this work, problems are almost guaranteed.

A free contractor is not necessarily cheaper because the execution of the slab foundation also depends on the requirements based on the soil report and structural engineering.

How do you come to that conclusion? As a house manufacturer, I am considering ProHaus, or do you see them as a supplier in the lower price segment?

By "someone," I didn’t mean the suppliers, but another home builder. So two different builders, each with a different opinion.

Yes. That’s what I understood from the question as well.

And by “provider” I meant the respective house manufacturers. So all good.
