Hello,

I’m new to this forum, and I’m hoping someone can help me. Thank you in advance.

In the picture, you can see the patio door, and above it, there are bricks used as cladding. Shouldn’t there be a lintel installed here for support?

Best regards,
Thomas

The lintel is securely embedded behind the facing bricks in the wall.

Hello, thank you for your reply.

The bricks are simply laid in place. I will upload one or two more pictures over the weekend.

Sure. That's basically how nearly every brick-clad house looks. Mine from the 1960s is the same. Behind the brick cladding, there is often a roller shutter box and above that a lintel (or the concrete ceiling).

I found another picture on my phone. As mentioned, I will take more photos over the weekend.
White window frame in red brick wall; visible crumbling mortar above the window.

Exactly. The bricks used are facing bricks. But is it really safe if the bricks are simply mortared in place like that?
