Hi everyone,

what are the advantages and disadvantages of a single-family house?

Option 1:
Heating: Air-to-water heat pump with underfloor heating
Hot water: Air-to-water heat pump

Option 2:
Heating: Air-to-air heat pump (multi-split)
Hot water: Solar thermal system plus a small gas boiler for extended bad weather

Have you already used the search function on this topic?

Is it a new build or an existing building?

What is the heating energy demand?

One advantage I see with underfloor heating – which might be a disadvantage for some – is the slow but even heat distribution.
With underfloor heating, I never experienced that “heated air” feeling inside the house or rooms being unevenly warm. I really like having a consistently comfortable temperature throughout the home. Although underfloor heating takes longer to respond to changes, the overall warmth always feels very uniform. Quite pleasant.

I can’t say much about air-to-air heat pumps because we decided against them. But as far as I know, they’re basically reversed air conditioners that heat the air in individual rooms as needed.

You have a 10-year-old building, so there is probably already underfloor heating installed. In that case, you should be able to easily replace your gas boiler with an air-to-water heat pump if needed.

What is advantageous about this ... a gas connection including a fixed monthly fee for a rare bad weather scenario?

Option 1 reasonably lacks photovoltaic support ... instead of the solar thermal system in option 2.
