Hi everyone,

what are the advantages and disadvantages of a single-family house?

Option 1:
Heating: Air-to-water heat pump with underfloor heating
Hot water: Air-to-water heat pump

Option 2:
Heating: Air-to-air heat pump (multi-split)
Hot water: Solar thermal system plus a small gas boiler for extended bad weather

Here is a comparison of the two systems:

Phew, I rarely see such a poor comparison.

I could start breaking down the individual points, but it’s not even worth it.

Go ahead. Without any explanation, it’s of course easy to claim that the comparison is poor ;-)

PS: The comparison refers to new construction with the corresponding heating load.

Is this a "comparison" made by a seller of air-to-air heat pumps or by a buyer who is now trying to justify their purchase?

The comparison comes from a manufacturer (of air-to-water heat pumps and air-to-air heat pumps) in cooperation with a modular home supplier.

Where exactly did you get this graphic from?
I really don’t find anything about it accurate or correct.
You probably need to differentiate much more between the types of air-to-air heat pumps used.

But let me quickly go through it:
1. Heating is more efficient with an air-to-water heat pump combined with the appropriate hydraulic system.
2. Dehumidification is simultaneously an advantage and a disadvantage depending on whether you want it or not. You can’t simply turn it off either.
3 and 4. What is the difference for the customer between investment costs and installation costs? And is having an indoor unit in every room really cheaper than just a few pipes embedded in the screed?
5. Operating costs should be higher for air-to-air heat pumps due to the need to disinfect the indoor units.
6. Air filter function? What does that have to do with heating systems?
7. Since when can an air-to-air heat pump produce domestic hot water?
8. Space requirements. Don’t all those indoor units of air-to-air heat pumps take up space?
9. Yeah, okay.
10. Subsidy eligibility constantly changes. What is the current situation anyway?
11. Comfort: This gets really strange here. It is urgently necessary to differentiate between heating and cooling. And air-to-air comfort rated green? Despite drafts, noise, and so on?
