Hello everyone,

we need to make a final decision regarding the bathtub spout / faucet.
So far, we had planned to integrate the bathtub spout into the tub itself or the overflow.
The reason is that we currently have a surface-mounted faucet, and I have bumped into it more than once already.
Now I have come across the Hansgrohe ShowerTableSelect bathtub thermostat 400.
Its big advantage is that the spout can be folded away. It also offers a shelf space and probably doesn’t look much bulkier than a concealed faucet plus a holder for the showerhead.
However, I can’t find any temperature display in the pictures online and am wondering how the thermostat works.
Does anyone happen to use this faucet?
What has been your experience with it?

Best regards

The control knob adjusts the temperature and should operate like other thermostats. I doubt that the foldable spout would add to the bulkiness if it couldn’t be folded in. The whole unit looks rather bulky anyway since it isn’t segmented. However, it still looks good.
I wouldn’t choose it because of the rotating inlet, as I see a potential issue with long-term functionality there (limescale). Otherwise, yes.

With all other thermostats, there is usually a temperature number indicated somewhere so you know which temperature corresponds to the given setting. So I was surprised that this one doesn’t have that. But maybe it’s just not clearly visible in the pictures.

However, I have now found a review on a major site. Unfortunately, the product doesn’t get a good rating... The entire unit seems to be made of plastic, and the water flow adjustment only allows a maximum reduction of about 30%. Probably not the best choice after all... It looks like it will come down to an in-wall thermostat after all.

Actually, no. There is a stopper at 37.5 or 38 degrees Celsius (99.5 or 100.4°F). Before that, it's blue; after that, red. Nothing more.

Or set it to 40°C (104°F). Many don’t have any indication at all. The number itself is not crucial (I would even suspect it’s not accurate). What matters is that it maintains the temperature at one setting, regardless of what comes out of the pipes (of course, there must be enough hot water available; otherwise, it won’t work).

I was actually referring to that number. It wasn’t visible in the pictures but it’s there. It’s located between the temperature control and the volume control.
However, the fact that the entire part is made of plastic discouraged us a lot.
We have now decided on the bathtub spout with overflow and a concealed installation fitting.
Let’s hope there won’t be any defects.
