Hello

We are looking for a refrigerator for our new kitchen.

We want a side-by-side or French door refrigerator.

The refrigerator should have an ice cube dispenser, as we often drink with ice cubes.

Which brands can you recommend?

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any reviews on refrigerators.

What do you think of LG, Samsung, Hisense?

Are there any other brands you would recommend?

Does your Haier also have an ice cube dispenser?
No, we didn’t want that. But it is/was also available with one.
Anyone with long-term experience with a device can recommend it to you, but it probably won’t be available on the market anymore. And if it is, there are likely dozens of others by now that are better or more technically advanced. Or they might have a super-frosting drawer that you actually need.
I think ours isn’t even available anymore…

I wouldn’t fuss over anything under €2000 (around $2200). The one from @netuser and mine were around €1000 ($1100). Samsung makes good ones, they all make good ones... and in the end, it has to fit your storage needs. Dimensions/height, for example for the smaller person, are important for most people.
Ultimately, it also has to be available. My husband’s boss needed a new one spontaneously for Easter – but there was no immediate option; she had to take whatever was available at the store. We had to wait three months for ours during the pandemic.

I couldn’t find any Bosch or Siemens French doors with ice makers, only side-by-side refrigerators.

We still have 3-4 months until we move in.

What do you think about Hanseatic? They probably aren’t on the same level as the others, right? You can probably tell they are cheaper.

Hisense should be okay too, right?

Let me summarize again:

We can just pick one of the following brands that fits us in terms of size, appearance, and features, correct?

LG
Samsung
Haier
Bosch/Samsung
(Hisense)

You can’t really go wrong with these brands, right?

The rest of the kitchen appliances are all Bosch.

What would you say is better for an ice cube dispenser: a water tank or a fixed water connection?

The water connection is 2m (6.5 ft) away.

I saw that with LG, the water is treated hourly with UV light to prevent bacteria from forming.

Can the UV treatment actually help, or is it just marketing talk?

You can’t really answer that in a general way… It depends on the wavelength and energy that actually reach the water tank. It works if done correctly; we disinfect our laboratories with UV light (also effective against viruses).

Ok, thanks, so UV irradiation can really work.

My current favorites are

LG
Samsung
and Hisense

Can anyone share their experience with Hisense?

I would choose a fixed water connection if I had the option. I find it very convenient, as you don’t have to worry about anything. Ice cubes are always available in sufficient quantities and are automatically replenished.
