Hello,

I want to install a video doorbell and surveillance cameras for our new build.

Which video doorbell would you recommend?
It should send the video feed to the registered smartphones and have a normal indoor chime, with the possibility to add another chime upstairs if necessary.
The doorbell should definitely work without internet (of course, sending to the phone won’t work then).
There must be no monthly fees or subscriptions for the doorbell.

Which surveillance cameras would you recommend? Should the cameras and doorbell be from the same manufacturer so they can be integrated?
For example, a video doorbell at the front door plus a camera, so you can see both images when someone rings.

What system should we use? PoE (Power over Ethernet)?

We will install Unifi access points on each floor and one in the garden for the network.

For surveillance cameras, possibly one next to the front door as an addition to the video doorbell, one camera with a light for the driveway near the garage, and maybe another camera for the small path next to the garage.

Which video doorbell and surveillance cameras would you recommend?

Believe me, this is exactly what happens when these workers are on vacation, otherwise locksmiths would have no business because everyone would have nice neighbors!

For the price saved here, I can afford to call a locksmith for 300 EUR (about 320 USD). You definitely learn from that... it probably won’t happen a second time 😉

Depending on the door and locking system, the locksmith won’t handle this for €300 (approx. $320).

Our family properties have used Ekey for years. I would never want to do without it.
However, this is only partly related to the video doorbell, since Ekey can be integrated into many different systems.
Of course, if you are building a house on a tight budget, you won't install a Gira 106 because the money is needed elsewhere.
Those who value design and functionality and have a somewhat larger budget are more likely to choose it.

I don’t want to debate the sensibility of it. Seriously, go ahead and buy the coolest stuff—I can understand the appeal, and there are definitely advantages that are difficult to achieve with conventional methods. But for me, it would never be worth 3700 EUR.

I’m revisiting this topic.

We are considering which video doorbell to choose. It will be mounted on the fence (to the left of the gate). The distance to the utility room is 15 meters (49 feet). We want a Wi-Fi video doorbell, not a solution that is very expensive.

I’m currently leaning towards:
- eufy Security Video Doorbell Dual or
- Ring Video Doorbell 4

However, I’m a bit put off by the subscription fee for Ring. With eufy, I’m not sure how well it actually performs. The posts are 1.45 meters (4 ft 9 in) high. Has anyone had experience with this?

Taking into account that the entire process was integrated into KNX and that this ultimately affects the prices at Gira, and combined with the mailbox, it was the only solution we liked.

Which specific mailbox did you choose for this?

@Neubau2022

Hopefully, my Ring Video Doorbell will be installed next Wednesday. It will also be mounted on the post, but at a height of about 120cm (47 inches), and I have approximately a 6m (20 feet) distance to the utility room.

Regards

P.S. The look of your fence resembles my gate/pedestrian gate combination.
