ᐅ Is it possible to have outward-opening windows with shutters?

Hello everyone,
I’m new here and trying my hand at my first post. We are planning to build our house next year. We are considering constructing a log house (with straight log beams). We would like windows that open outward, but also shutters. Does anyone have experience with this? Are there any proven solutions? Historically, this was common in Northern Europe. Thank you very much for your suggestions.

The biggest advantage is that you don’t have to clear the window sills when you open the windows.
And that’s exactly why you will now replace all the windows in your home, right!? 😎

Those are just “fantasies,” nothing more.
But maybe the original poster will take the trouble to clarify here.

Reminds me of elderly relatives who always complain that maintaining the house takes so much work, cleaning windows takes forever and is exhausting, there’s so much dusting to do... It’s no wonder when everything is cluttered and there are no free surfaces to put things on. Put the flowerpot briefly on the floor? No, definitely not on the good carpet. Better to carry 10 pots separately for 10 meters (33 feet) before you can clean a single window. Then window cleaning becomes an all-day task... I’m drifting off.

Less is more.

Install a ventilation system, then you don’t have to open all the windows anyway…
That’s exactly the preferred solution in new builds!

That’s exactly the approach to take in new builds!

But I prefer open windows. 😀

I had windows like that, and they were practical. You also didn’t have the open sash sticking into the room. There are many ways to reach the same goal.

Quite a harsh tone here... As a newcomer, you could easily lose interest...

The reason we are installing such windows is actually about saving space. There are no window sashes protruding into the room, and you can leave the plants in place when ventilating. Besides, this is a matter of personal preference and was never up for debate.

The question is whether anyone has experience with these types of windows and if a clever combination with shutters is known.

The reason we want to install these kinds of windows is actually to save space. There are no window sashes swinging into the room, and when ventilating, the plants can stay put. Besides, this is a matter of personal taste and was not open for discussion.

This only works without electric control if there is a larger gap of at least 15 cm (6 inches) between the window and the shutters. It’s still fiddly.
