Hello everyone,
I’m new here and trying my hand at my first post. We are planning to build our house next year. We are considering constructing a log house (with straight log beams). We would like windows that open outward, but also shutters. Does anyone have experience with this? Are there any proven solutions? Historically, this was common in Northern Europe. Thank you very much for your suggestions.

If you want windows like that, why not?
Special features always carry a high risk of complaints and/or high additional costs because "rethinking" is the most difficult special request in semi-industrial production processes. Getting the materials from somewhere less exotic usually leads to complications in case of service or warranty issues.

Of course. Anyone who buys non-standard products should be aware of the potential disadvantages. In such cases, everything is usually somewhat more expensive, including the service, which is not available just around the corner. This is reasonable, because non-standard solutions always require more planning, time, and care. However, this can be resolved with money and is not an issue if you are prepared for it and have made a conscious decision.
