Hello everyone,

I would like to hear your opinion on a quote I received.

- Photovoltaic system with 10 kWp
- Storage battery with 6.5 kW
- Including installation

About 25,000 euros

That seems a bit high to me... so I’m asking here in the forum.
Thanks and best regards

I just say power cloud.

Sorry, got triggered 🙂

Recently, I came across an interesting statement on this topic, even though the headline didn’t suggest it. Have a look on YouTube for the video "170 scientists expose CO2 calculation errors in the EV cult" by nextmove.

I am also skeptical about power clouds myself (they seem unprofitable and risky for customers). However, I wasn’t aware of the benefits this concept could bring to the overall power grid.

And yes, decentralization is generally the solution. Putting supply into the hands of a few large corporations is difficult, especially when they resist meaningful change. Fields full of battery storage or photovoltaic panels are also hard (profitable) to imagine in a “small” Western country like ours.

These are 22 modules, each with 415 kWp.

The red roof is not mine.

If this doesn’t become affordable, we will never install it.
Bungalow, exterior 155m2 (1,670 sq ft), gable roof with a 25-degree pitch oriented east-west, no roof windows.
Next time we’ll consider it when cars are capable of being loaded from the back and thus provide a large storage space. Maybe the dealership offers such a package?

Ah, I see! Well, that puts my understanding back on track.

But this thread really crushes all my dreams...

What kind of opportunity costs are associated with a photovoltaic system?
The opportunity when purchasing a photovoltaic system with self-consumption is to continue buying all electricity from a utility provider. Producing one kWh with a typical photovoltaic system costs between 6-8 cents depending on orientation, location, and purchase price. Electricity from the utility has long since become more expensive than that.

In any case, photovoltaics are worthwhile, that much we can probably agree on.

Or you get amusing requirements in the development plan, like photovoltaic areas on the roof being allowed only in a specific shape.
