ᐅ Direction of parquet installation: parallel or perpendicular to the incoming light in the living room

Hi,

How would you lay the parquet flooring in this apartment layout? Uniformly across the light direction in the living room, or uniformly along it? The parquet will be installed uniformly, meaning there are no plans to change the orientation in different rooms. It is also decided that the hallway and kitchen areas will have parquet, just to clarify that in advance.

Best regards,
Maria

The hallway does not really matter.
The main question is whether everything should be installed as one continuous area or separated with dividing strips and necessary expansion joints. Personally, I prefer it as seamless as possible. In this case, both hallways inevitably have to be subordinated to the living area.
Depending on the length, width, and installation pattern of the specific package, this can work better or worse.

Try laying it out and then decide what you like

Exactly, that is the most practical approach.

We installed it lengthwise in relation to the direction of the natural light!

I want to emphasize a hallway about 10 m (33 feet) long and about 1.50 m (5 feet) wide – along its length?

Compared to the living area, I wouldn’t care much about the hallway...

But apparently not for the original poster when considering the direction.
I would actually change the orientation at the transition between the kitchen and dining area. I would also have a flush threshold installed. This is a subtle form of zoning, not a rigid adherence to a pattern.

If I were you, I would lay out the long hallway transversely and arrange the other rooms accordingly.

In a conversation with a carpenter friend, he recommended "30°" to me. After implementing this once for a client at her request, he said he would never do it differently again. I am still considering it, but will probably lay it out perpendicular to the main light source.

Horizontal. It fits better in all rooms. I find emphasizing proportions more important than light entry, and the latter is also better horizontally in the living room.
