Hello everyone,
I need your expertise. Due to the new elevation of our new build, I have to retain neighboring properties that are higher. The required retaining height would be 1-1.5 m (3.3-5 feet).
My first choice was concrete retaining walls (L-shaped blocks), but I cannot install the footings pointing towards the neighbors, as this would significantly encroach on their land.
Do you have any ideas, tips, or alternatives for me?
Best regards

Yes, we are still in the approval process. However, this has been communicated to the building authority.
Ah, now I understand. The neighbor won't have approved that. It’s likely that a permit is required for the wall with the fence shown in the picture. At least approval from the affected neighbor – either you or the previous owner of your property. This is aside from the building authority. How long is this retaining wall?
Have you not submitted a building permit / planning application yet?

Have you not submitted a building permit / planning permission application yet? Yes, we have.
I made a sketch. The new planned heights are marked in red and the existing heights in blue. I hope it’s clear what I want to show. Our house is basically surrounded by all the neighboring properties. Our plot is shaped like a boot, starting at the cul-de-sac in front and extending to the back left.
