Phew, more than 1000 for a chair.
We have wire chairs from home 24 dot d e. Since they are too hard, we put sheepskins on them, which makes them really comfortable. Then it costs about 140 per set.

I’m not sure if conditioning would help. But it’s probably not caused by the zippers. I suspect it’s a combination of aging and regular use. For my dining table set, the faux leather on one chair (the one I use regularly) and one spot on the bench (where my girlfriend usually sits) is also peeling off. The interesting part is that both are worn almost equally, even though one spot was barely used for a few years. The peeling happens exactly where the seat surface folds when sitting down.

The same happens to us. I always sit in my favorite spot, so always the same chair. Three chairs have peeling material. The problem is that every second chair for sale is made of this synthetic stuff. I can’t afford leather 😡

Take a look at KFF or Bert Plantagie, they have what I consider nice cantilever chairs. I usually find these kinds of chairs on classified ads. You need to be patient, and if you’re careful, you can find reliable previous owners or even chairs in almost like-new/top condition. High-quality furniture is usually well maintained by its owners. Here, we have beautiful cantilever chairs in leather from BoConcept, six pieces bought for about €1,000 (approximately $1,100). Shipping within Germany is no longer a problem nowadays.

Okay, you need patience and leisure time, but in return, you can get great pieces.
