Hello
After completing the screed, we are considering installing a so-called skim coat floor with a concrete look. Unfortunately, there are not many providers, and if there are, they tend to be extremely expensive. If anyone knows of alternatives, companies that offer a good price-performance ratio, or if it’s okay to do it “yourself” with guidance and instructions, I would be grateful for any advice. Rooms and a bathroom are to be done. Maybe someone here has taken on this task themselves. I understand that there are many things to consider.

I find the flooring very stylish and don’t really like tiles. Apart from that, we just want to install parquet. In the hallway, bathrooms, utility room, and stairs, we want a concrete look.
There is someone in the neighboring town who does this quite well. I follow their Instagram profile. The results look very nice.
It’s probably expensive. I’m going to contact them.
However, I have a master painter in the immediate family who feels confident doing this and would actually do it for free. We would only have to pay for the materials. But he doesn’t have much experience with it, I suspect none at all. He is familiar with it, has brochures about it, and can get the materials. That’s why I’m not sure how we should decide.

I believe he has done stairs before. The real question is whether it’s a complicated task. It’s obvious that a casual DIYer shouldn’t attempt it. There is also a painter in the neighborhood who offers this service.
I have seen online that people have filled their stairs themselves, and it looks good.
I want to
I don’t want to disrespect the painter, but you should only let someone do it who really knows what they’re doing.

It’s definitely expensive. I will contact them.

Well, that’s the question. Technically, he’s capable of a lot—he can do plastering for sure, has colleagues, and can source information and tools. I think he’s done stairs before. The question is whether it’s really complicated. It’s clear a DIY enthusiast shouldn’t do it. There’s also a painter in the neighborhood who offers that service. It probably also depends on your expectations and whether you are willing to accept minor imperfections in the final result. With this in mind, I have often had work done by people whose quality I know well, and we have then “taken the risk” together.
