Hi everyone,

I am looking for a digital room thermostat. In our new build, we have an air-to-water heat pump with underfloor heating and cooling function.

Preferably with current temperature display and a backlit screen. No extra features are necessary.

And they require a relatively large amount, which can add up to 100 euros annually.

The actuators and controllers will still consume power. But you can also do without that, right?
Ah, I wouldn’t have expected that. So the thermostats might consume about 0.5–1 W, sure. But that the motors also have some kind of "standby" power consumption or regulate something even when there’s no demand?
Important note. Thanks!

It helps to look at the technical specifications. After all, every motor is different. But yes, Bookstar described it correctly. Depending on how many you have, the total cost can add up quite a bit.

Assuming the heating system is properly set up (supply temperature, etc.), can't you just turn all the thermostatic valves fully open? Wouldn't that be "simpler"?
It depends on the actuator and the valve. Some are normally closed when off, others are normally open when off.

It's cheaper if they are normally closed, so the actuators, simply put, run at full load if the valve stays open continuously, because the actuator has to hold the valve open against the spring force.

1 watt per actuator. You can calculate from there.

cheaper is long-lasting with closed

Do you mean cheaper in terms of initial cost? Can you specify how much cheaper?
And what is the lifespan of such a motor?

No, he means cheaper to operate. Since the motors only need electricity during the heating season. Unless you try to cool via underfloor heating in summer, then it doesn’t really matter which one you choose, as they would be running all year round.
