Hello everyone,

We received a quote for our electrical network connection about a week ago. The total cost is approximately €6,500. Honestly, we were surprised since we had expected around €2,500. The quote includes the following items:

1) Network connection costs for: cable network connection for electricity with house connection cable 35 - 50 mm² (0.054 - 0.077 in²), house connection box NH00 3 x 50 A; about €2,000.

2) Services for: one piece extension of existing pit due to other trades, 30 m (98 feet) extension of existing house connection trench due to other trades; about €1,750.

3) Service for house entry: 120 m (394 feet) flexible protective conduit, non-buildable area; about €1,750.

Plus VAT of course, bringing the total to approximately €6,500.

Our questions now: Does this all seem reasonable? Especially with items 2 and 3, I’m not quite sure what to make of them.

Thank you.

Since we have no knowledge of the local conditions, we can only speculate here. Therefore, detailed information would be helpful. Where? How? What? etc.

What does "other trades" mean?

Sorry, the location is Konstanz, Baden-Württemberg. The general contractor forwarded my data to Netze BW because they handle the electricity. Suddenly, we received the offer in our mailbox. Of course, I will call them to get an explanation. I just didn’t want to go into the conversation completely unprepared.

That’s exactly what I’m wondering, and I can’t explain it myself. That’s why I hoped someone in the forum could clarify it for me.

A 30 m (100 ft) trench and 120 m (390 ft) conduit is not a small amount. Is it far from the road?
Other trades would indicate multiple utilities, meaning water and telecom in the same trench.

Different trades would indicate multiple services, meaning water and telecommunications in the same trench.

The 30 m (98 feet) trench could be accurate, since the house entry point is probably about 25 m (82 feet) away from the street side. Then it has to go around a corner, so it could really reach 30 m (98 feet). But what about 120 m (394 feet) of conduit? If the trench is 30 m (98 feet), why would there be 120 m (394 feet) of conduit?
