ᐅ Which adhesive and painter’s fleece (paint: Keim Innostar/Sol-Sil) should be used?

M. GerdHello everyone,
we want to cover the entire interior of our house with painter’s fleece wallpaper and then paint it with Innovstar Sol Silicate paint from Keim. Instead of applying two coats of paint, the walls will first be primed with Soliprim primer from Keim. For the painter’s fleece, it was important to us that it is untreated.
Now, a painter told us that this is unnecessary because when he uses his adhesive for the painter’s fleece, the wall becomes sealed anyway. According to him, this is always the case with painter’s fleece. We are now considering whether we should also specify the type of fleece and adhesive or what would work best.
Regarding our wall (from outside to inside):
- External thermal insulation composite system (ETICS)
- Calcium silicate brick
- Gypsum plaster
Usually, the fleece StoTap (Pro 550) was recommended, without mentioning the adhesive. Which fleece and adhesive would you recommend? Would you also prime the wall before applying the fleece?
Thanks in advance.

I applied Erfurt Variovlies V130 PRO to almost all walls. For the adhesive, I used Metylan NP new plaster adhesive. For the primer, the adhesive was diluted further and then applied to the wall according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The adhesive is very vapor-permeable. You can look up "water vapor diffusion equivalent air layer thickness (sd-value)" for more information. Anything up to sd ≤ 0.5 m is considered vapor-permeable. This adhesive is in the range of ≤ 0.02.
In our case, we used gypsum fiberboards, but it could be comparable for gypsum plaster. You should also check with the manufacturers regarding this.
We also applied two coats of Keim Innostar paint.

Thank you for the reply!
Did you apply the fleece with Innostar only twice, or did you also prime it beforehand? We want to prime first with Soliprim, and then a single coat should be enough. Let's see if that works.
Regarding the adhesive, I'll take a look. 0.02 is indeed very low.

Regarding the adhesive, I’ll take a look. 0.02 is indeed very low. We applied Innostar twice. Only in the basement did we prime with Soliprim. There, the paint was applied directly onto a lime-cement plaster without painting fleece. Keim Biosil was used in that case. However, Keim Biosil does not work well with painting fleece, so I would recommend using Innostar with painting fleece.
