Hello,
I am new to the forum and would like to greet everyone.
We are currently having a semi-detached house built and are unsure about the wall covering. We were recommended paintable fleece wallpaper.
I have a question regarding its durability: How many times can paintable fleece wallpaper be painted over? Is it the same as with textured wallpaper?
Also, does paintable fleece wallpaper eventually become as easy to remove from the wall as standard non-woven wallpaper? What quantity would be needed for each option?
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Markus

If it is not properly glued, it will come off on its own... We used painter’s fleece everywhere. Especially in the corners, the work was not done neatly. Now the fleece and the paint on top are coming loose.
After 3 years in the house: There are spots I have already painted 4 times (it was first an office, then a children's room). The painter’s fleece has held up so far.

Use textured wallpaper. It is more forgiving of mistakes and easier to apply. Additionally, textured wallpaper is vapor-permeable. Not every painter’s fleece offers this.
Textured wallpaper is also cheaper.
And who knows... maybe in five years you’ll want something different on the wall?
Also great for new builds: paper wallpaper. Good quality, affordable, paintable, and vapor-permeable. Available with or without patterns, in color or simply white. Advantage: It doesn’t have to be painted.
Painter’s fleece is not easy to work with. We used it on a ceiling in the ground floor and ended up removing it all. Now a simple fleece wallpaper is glued to the ceiling.
Paper wallpaper: By the way, this tip is not mine. I’m just passing it on. It comes from my daughter’s future father-in-law, a master painter with a thriving business.
Our wallpapers are white with texture or cream-colored. Visual highlights are photo wallpapers from Komar, made of paper.
Total cost all in: €350.00 (EUR). Perfect for drying out walls (residual moisture).
Settlement cracks are also not visible.

What exactly is painter’s fleece? I only know it from moving, where it’s used on the floor to protect it from damage...Painter’s fleece is a non-woven wallpaper without texture or coating. Rolls generally contain between 25 and 50 linear meters (27 to 55 yards). It is also available in different widths.
Of course, there are breathable painter’s fleeces or even ones with texture, but those tend to be more expensive.
Then you also have the paint, because painter’s fleece is painted similarly to an embossed wallpaper.
Nowadays, painter’s fleece can be found in any well-stocked DIY store or specialty retailer.
Velvety soft..... I actually found it more fuzzy.
