Hello,
Our single-family house is currently under construction, and the shell has been completed. TV and Internet are planned as follows:
TV: via satellite system for Astra and Hotbird, dish installed on the roof. My electrician will take care of grounding the system. The cables run from the LNBs to the multiswitch in the attic, and from the multiswitch, cables go to the individual rooms (maximum 8 outlets).
Internet: originally planned as DSL via the Telekom line. However, since only a maximum of DSL 16 is possible (probably insufficient for a family of five, especially as the children grow!), I am considering getting Internet via Vodafone cable (speeds up to 400 Mb possible).
If I mainly want to use Internet via cable and TV via satellite but want to stay flexible for the future—that is, to have TV also possible via cable and Internet also via DSL over the Telekom line—how should the cables and outlets be installed? Both for TV and Internet?

We have both Telekom and cable connections to the house, as well as a satellite system. There is a satellite outlet and an RJ45 connection in every room. You can watch TV via satellite, and if you want, by switching a few connections you can watch TV via cable or use Sat over IP or IPTV.Hello Malz1902, what exactly needs to be switched?

In that scenario, I would also distribute cable TV through network sockets. Is there no FTTH in your building area?Is FTTH fiber optic? We have it in the town, but not where I am building! It might come in the next few years. How do you mean by cable TV over network sockets?
Your children will probably be more interested in streaming (Netflix, YouTube, Twitch, etc.) than satellite TV. Therefore, I would recommend installing a double network socket wherever a fixed device might be placed (TV, desktop PC, Wi-Fi access point).
With the distribution setup mentioned above, it doesn’t matter how phone and internet enter the house—you just need to distribute the connections accordingly.
You can also distribute satellite TV over the network (SAT over IP) if you want. Whether you choose to do that is up to you. If not, just install classic satellite cables and sockets.
You can also get TV through the internet, for example via Telekom Entertain or Zattoo.
In our house, we don’t watch TV at all right now. Since October, I haven’t even missed it. If there’s a major event like the World Cup, I can simply book internet TV for a few days.

TV via satellite, Internet via DSL (50,000, line supports 100,000)
IP-TV and streaming will become more prevalent, so I would keep all options open here. If higher DSL speeds are not guaranteed, I would at least prepare everything for a cable connection.
I used to have TV via cable for several years, but I wouldn’t want it anymore (inflexible regarding outlets, smaller channel selection, expensive). If possible, at least have the cable line installed or provisioned.
Additionally, I would have a coaxial cable installed from the main house entry point to the “router location” and to the attic (satellite distribution). This way, the existing sub-distribution (LAN and satellite) can mostly be reused later. There should also be a LAN cable in the attic. Then Sat-over-IP will also be easily possible.
It should be standard today to have at least one satellite and one LAN connection in every relevant room. In contrast to 10 years ago, I no longer need my double satellite outlets. I rarely record anything anymore, and only when I am not watching TV at the same time.
